Bookkeeper
Matthias Media is seeking a permanent part-time Bookkeeper to join our team. This role supports the Matthias Media team by providing bookkeeping work to cover essential financial functions. You will report to and work closely with the Finance Manager to ensure bookkeeping tasks are completed in a timely and careful manner.
Responsibilities may include:
- basic bookkeeping functions such as accounts payable,
accounts receivable, bank and other reconciliations, payroll and other reports - tax compliance work (completion of quarterly BAS and
monthly PAYG)superannuation payments and administration - maintenance of leave records
- calculating loan interest, processing company credit card, petty
cash reconciliations, and occasional banking - administering and making royalty payments
- other tasks as agreed
- building good professional relationships with all Matthias Media employees, contributors and supporters
- being involved in team activities like daily prayer and weekly devotions
- adhering to all Matthias Media policies and procedures.
Required skills/experience:
- experience with MS Excel
- strong attention to detail
- a strong interest in bookkeeping
- preparedness to learn and provide quality work.
We use Xero accounting software and are happy to provide training to a capable appointee.
Among others, this position would suit tertiary students or others looking for some supplementary income.

We are looking for someone who is a mature Reformed-evangelical Christian who wholeheartedly supports and shares our gospel convictions as expressed in our Gospel Convictions statement. You can see a copy here.
Hours would be 3.5 hours per week, school hours available, on one day of your choosing (other than Monday). You would initially work in our Newtown office, but as your proficiency increases, you would have the option to sometimes work from home.
Initial pay classification is Clerks Award Level 3, currently being $28.69/hour (before superannuation).
