Our world today overflows with ideas and misunderstandings about Jesus. Who was he, really? What did he think about himself? How can we get at the truth about him today, 2000 years later? Amid the enormous diversity of views on offer, is there any way to really grasp the truth about Jesus?
In this series of eight studies, Matthew Jensen answers these crucial questions by guiding us through several key Bible passages, showing that amid the competing opinions, there is a way forward: seeing Jesus as he saw himself, through the 'glasses' of the Old Testament Scriptures.
Jesus Through Old Testament Eyes shows how and why the Old Testament is the indispensable key to properly understanding the life and ministry of the most extraordinary person who ever lived. It will help you to grow in your understanding of the Bible's big picture, and in your appreciation for the Lord Jesus and all he accomplished.
8 studies. Leader’s notes included.

This Bible study resource is part of our series Pathway Bible Guides. This series aims to provide simple, straightforward Bible study material for:
Accordingly, we've designed the studies to be short, straightforward and easy to use, with uncomplicated vocabulary. At the same time, the studies do justice to the passages and model good Bible-reading principles. They are simple without being simplistic; no-nonsense without being no-content.
The questions and answers assume a small group context but can be easily adapted to suit different situations, such as individual study and one-to-one.
Whilst our study group normally used more advanced studies, "Jesus through Old Testament eyes" has been really helpful to the group in helping to affirm what we had learned previously. The general discussion questions at the start of each study has been an excellent introduction to each study.
Thank you for the material. We look forward to using more Matthias studies through the rest of the year.

Jesus Through Old Testament Eyes
Pathway Bible Guides
Introduction
Jesus Through Old Testament Eyes is a study guide for small groups covering a handful of the major connections between the Old Testament and it's fulfillment in Jesus in the New Testament. The study guide is meant for small groups and the one booklet includes both the participant and leader guides.
Impressions
It's an introductory guide meant for Christians new to studying the Bible, or who are intimidated by larger studies. In their own words they tried to be 'no-nonsense without being no-content.' I appreciate that and I think they've succeeded.
The eight lessons are easily finished in one sitting, but they are open ended enough to pull the participants into bigger questions.
Each lesson starts with an open ended question that leads into two scripture readings. The participants answer questions about the readings which, frankly, are easy to answer if you stick to the Biblical text. At first I thought this was too simple until I realized that the point of the study is to keep the participant in the scriptures instead of wandering off in questions of, 'how does this make you feel?'
At the end of each lesson there is a wrap up question, and then an opportunity to give thanks and pray. Suggestions are offered for prayers that tie in to each lesson.
The first two lessons establish who Jesus is and the remaining six take an Old Testament reading and show it's fulfillment in the New Testament.
My favorite part of this guide is that it includes the leaders guide. This gives the participant all the information they need in case they miss a session. It also eliminates that feeling of the leader being special because their book has more notes!
The Wrap Up
I enjoyed going through this study. The questions pull you into the Scriptures which should be the goal of any Bible Study. I look forward to checking out the other seven books in the series.
I received this book from MatthiasMedia for free and was not required to write a favorable review.
