Discover is a five-week evangelistic course flexible enough that it can and has been utilized in a variety of contexts to see people converted to Christ. It's built around four core principles:

  • The word (God’s truth at the centre)
  • Time (giving people repeated and consistent exposure to the gospel)
  • People (ordinary Christians sharing and discussing together)
  • Prayer (depending on God for the work only he can do).

If you are someone who has always wondered what all the fuss about Jesus is, then this course is for you. It's a comprehensive introduction to the most important figure in world history.

If you belong to a church that's not entirely satisfied with the evangelistic course in use, Discover is the change you have been looking for.

Discover in detail

This course guides people through a five-week discovery of Jesus using the Gospel of Luke. Who is Jesus, what did he claim about himself, and why is that important for all people to understand? Based on the Two Ways to Live gospel outline, the course leads participants through the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The course can be done one-to-one, but it’s best experienced with a group of other people who are interested in finding out about Jesus. Whether that is a big or small group, one meeting in a church or a home or outdoors is up to the culture and context of the church. Ideally it would be run on a regular basis so that a church sees and experiences itself as a community that sees others coming to Christ.

The book is designed for the course attender to work through in the weeks between the Discover course gatherings. It helps people consolidate what they have been hearing and think about questions that they may have.

The full course package contains free video talks, scripts, leader notes, PowerPoint slides and marketing materials—everything churches need to run a successful and regular evangelistic course. Right now the free video talks, participant book and free supporting material is available; the Leader Handbook with the scripts, notes and videos for leaders will be released soon.

The how-to, why and what-for guide to running Discover, the Discover: Leader’s Handbook covers all that you need to know to plan, run and follow up an evangelism team and course. The Essential Jesus

During the video sessions, the presenter Dave Jensen references Bible passages from The Essential Jesus, a fresh and accurate translation of the Gospel of Luke.

While not essential to running the course, providing copies of The Essential Jesus for participants encourages them to check what the presenter is telling them and begin to read God's word for themselves at home. Due to its size, The Essential Jesus is not as intimidating or expensive as distributing whole Bibles, though we pray that you do need to do that later in someone's journey with Christ!

Questions about Discover

When is the Leader's Handbook being released?
At the end of March.

What do I need to run the course?
Discover is very customisable in delivery, but you will need the participant book and The Essential Jesus for every attendee. This approach helps engagement with the gospel at a deeper level during the week between meetings.

Do I need the Leader's Handbook to run the course?
You can glean a lot from the videos and other resources free online, but the Handbook is recommended for getting the talk scripts, underlying philosophy, background, goals and practical suggestions for how to run things. It will be available from the end of March.

What is More to Discover?
More to Discover is a program following the Discover course that helps new Christians and those still interested in exploring who Jesus is to continue learning. It's a series of courses and study materials that keep people engaged and hearing the gospel.

Learn the Gospel in detail

Whether building a house or building a life, solid, square and true foundations are vital.

If you’re just starting out in the Christian life—or considering it—you want to get those foundations in place from the start. Even if you’ve been a Christian for a while, it’s important to occasionally check your foundations—they might have shifted or been attacked by white ants, or perhaps they weren’t laid quite as straight as you originally thought.

In this Learn Together book, thoroughly inspect your gospel foundations and make your understanding of that gospel sound and biblical—alongside your brothers and sisters in Christ.

Through reading, studying the Bible, watching some video input and discussing what you are all learning together, you’ll go deep into the gospel of Jesus Christ—understanding each of its parts, how they fit together, and what implications the gospel has for all of our lives.
