When Ray Galea submitted his life to Christ, he had a problem on his hands: Which church should he go to?
“I did not want to assume that just because I was born a Catholic, this was by definition the right choice. I knew I could just as easily have been born a Baptist or a Mormon. So I spent the next six months reading and talking to priests and ministers to find out the differences between Catholics and Protestants. How did each of their teachings compare with the teaching of Jesus and the apostles?”
This book is a re-tracing of Ray’s investigation, looking at the key issues that continue to divide Protestants and Catholics, and assessing them in light of the teaching of Scripture. A challenging and invaluable book for Protestants and Catholics alike.
I've just finished reading this book and wanted to say how helpful I found it. It explains very, very clearly the differences between Catholicism and Protestantism, showing what both religions believe, whilst being incredibly respectful.
Thank you for this excellent resource that was written clearly by inspiration from God, in truth, with love and humility and grace.
Ray writes clearly, with insight and references the text well. It explains clearly the fundamental tenets of Roman Catholicism and why he ultimately struggled with the teaching and traditions of the Roman Catholic Church. Through use of Scripture, he writes a compelling argument. A handy text for those who want to understand the reasons for the Reformation and those thinking through the Catholic position. Thoroughly recommended

Just finished reading Nothing In My Hand I Bring. It is probably the first time I have really been captured, challenged and encouraged by a book. Ray was to the point and put his arguments across perfectly. Thank you so much.

In this book, Ray explains some of the main differences between Roman Catholic, and Protestant beliefs. He's well placed to do this, having grown up in a practising Roman Catholic family. Throughout the book, he's able to relate official Roman Catholic teaching to his own experiences from when he was growing up.
Each chapter explores a different aspect of Roman Catholic teaching, such the Catholic Mass, the authority of the Bible and the authority of the Vatican, and the place of Mary, the mother of Jesus. In particular, Ray draws our attention to the underlying theme of the 're-insertion' of humans into God's work of salvation. Instead of 'Christ alone as found in the Bible alone, and received by faith alone, through grace alone..the human must always be re-inserted' (p. 95).
This book effectively explains some of the main differences between Roman Catholic and Protestant beliefs. It's a book which I would recommend to you, not so that you can go to your Catholic friends and point out all the ways in which they're wrong. Rather, it should equip you to better engage with Catholics, and encourage them to explore the official teachings of their church, and how they stack up with what the Bible teaches.
